Job Overview
As a Legal Counsel in the Banking sector, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on business banking, corporate finance, trade finance and small business lending transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide counsel to clients on business banking, corporate finance, trade finance and small business lending transactions.
* Draft, negotiate and review transaction documents to ensure they meet company objectives.
* Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks by working closely with credit, portfolio management and external advisers.
* Develop and maintain legal templates, guidelines and training materials for transaction teams.
* Monitor changes in banking and finance laws and regulations.
Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law gained in-house at a large financial institution or within a top/mid-tier law firm.
* Solid background in business banking, corporate finance and trade finance with exposure to risk participation and syndicated lending arrangements.
* Proven drafting, negotiation and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
* Confidence in communicating complex legal issues to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
* Current practising certificate as a solicitor in New South Wales or equivalent Australian jurisdiction.
