Faculty of Science 2 x Full-time, permanent positions Base salary will be in the range $117,958.12 - $132,247.57 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 8) Roles based at either St Lucia or Gatton campus with occasional travel to other UQ campuses, sites, and research stations. About This Opportunity The Infrastructure and Facilities Business Partner supports the Faculty of Science’s teaching and research by ensuring facilities and infrastructure are safe, compliant, fit for purpose, and effectively utilised across a complex portfolio of laboratories, teaching spaces, and technical environments. This hands-on role involves auditing infrastructure, implementing practical risk-based improvement strategies, coordinating projects, and providing functional leadership to support day-to-day operational performance. You will work closely with Schools, Property & Facilities, and other stakeholders to deliver practical, sustainable solutions. Join a collaborative team and help deliver infrastructure outcomes that enable the Faculty to operate efficiently and achieve its academic and research goals. Key responsibilities will include: Space Management Undertake regular inspections of Faculty of Science infrastructure to identify deficiencies and ensure alignment with UQ policy requirements. Collect, analyse, and report on space utilisation and condition data, and coordinate documented strategies to support operational suitability, sustainable use, and maintenance planning in consultation with Schools, Health Safety & Wellness, and Property & Facilities. Infrastructure Planning & Delivery Prepare and manage documentation for capital infrastructure submissions in accordance with Faculty and University processes. Liaise with Property & Facilities and School stakeholders throughout project lifecycles, represent the Faculty during delivery stages, and coordinate defect monitoring. Client Partnering Act as the primary contact for infrastructure-related matters for assigned client groups, including coordinating responses to local issues and facilitating escalation where required. Participate in relevant committees and working groups, and where applicable, assist with facilities-related budget development, monitoring, and reporting. Leadership Participate in committees and working groups relating to estate management and infrastructure planning. Develop and maintain local procedures and guidelines, provide supervisory and functional leadership to Facilities staff and specialist contributors, oversee financial and personnel matters where required, and undertake special infrastructure-related projects. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of built infrastructure sustainability practices, including legislation, codes of practice, and standards across a range of building uses. Practical understanding of the interface between science infrastructure and built infrastructure. Experience in applying scientific and engineering principles to develop and execute technically informed risk-based strategies that ensure safety, compliance, and operational suitability. Proven experience leading and managing teams, including delegating, training, and overseeing staff to achieve quality outcomes. High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships, collaborate effectively, and consult with diverse client groups. Strong computer literacy and ability to use, or learn, software relevant to infrastructure and business operations. Chartered status in asset management, building services engineering, or risk engineering (Professional Engineer or Engineering Manager level) is desirable.
