Own and manage instrument systems at Tamar Valley Power Station. Deliver safe, efficient maintenance and technical support.

The Tamar Valley Power Station was originally commissioned by Aurora Energy in 2009 and acquired by AETV Pty Ltd in June 2013 as a subsidiary of Hydro Tasmania. The 386 MW station comprises 208 MW of Combined Cycle Gas generation and 178 MW of Open Cycle Gas generation.

AETV operates as part of the Hydro Tasmania asset fleet, an organisation that, with the help of over 30,000 people, has built, maintained, and refurbished power infrastructure across Tasmania.

About the role:

To put it simply… You will manage the delivery of instrument maintenance and engineering services at Tamar Valley Power Station, ensuring efficient and reliable plant operations.


Responsibilities

* Maintain and troubleshoot instrument and protection systems at TVPS to prevent breakdowns.
* Develop and execute short‑ and long‑term maintenance plans using CMMS.
* Provide technical advice, fault diagnostics, and solutions for complex issues.
* Prepare detailed reports, monitor condition trends, and identify adverse patterns.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Participate in the call‑out roster, liaise with contractors, and source maintenance goods and services.


Qualifications

* Qualified Instrument/Electrician with a current license.
* Strong background in instrument controls and protection systems.
* Hands‑on experience in LV and HV distribution environments, instrument testing, and fault finding.Ability to interpret schematic and control circuit diagrams.
* High‑level problem‑solving skills and the ability to plan, schedule, and manage resources effectively.
* Clear communication skills, competence in preparing detailed reports, and a strong commitment to OH&S.
* Knowledge of instrumentation, fire protection systems, HV switchyards, industrial communication systems, or experience with steam and gas turbines is a plus.


Compensation

Salary range – $93,140 to $114,552 based on experience, plus superannuation.

This role is offered by AETV Pty Ltd under the Electrical Power Industry Award (EPI Award) and an individual contract of employment. The position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to Hydro Tasmania's partnership with AETV Power in delivering a reliable electricity supply for Tasmania.
