Job Description


About the Role

Permanent, full‑time opportunity, based at The Orange Door Shepparton, for a Child and Young Person Practice Leader (CYPPL) to join our team.

The CYPPL is a practice leadership position in each Support and Safety Hub (The Orange Door).

Auspiced by FamilyCare within the Goulburn Orange Door network, the CYPPL works in collaboration with the Hub Manager, other practice leaders and team leaders to lead the delivery of high quality, safe and effective service responses to young Victorians seeking support and services through The Orange Door.

The CYPPL holds responsibility for providing expert practice leadership on engaging children and young people, assessing risk and needs for the infant, child, young person and family, and supporting interventions for infants, children and young people impacted by family violence and/or experiencing vulnerabilities due to other factors.

The CYPPL proactively builds the capability across The Orange Door workforce working collaboratively engaging with children and young people to ensure that the experiences and voices of children and young people inform the service response in line with The Orange Door Service Model and Best Interests Case Practice Model.


Key performance responsibilities include:

* Ensuring child wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of team members.
* Providing specialist and advanced practice leadership and support to practitioners.
* Managing stakeholders through effective negotiation and influence and harnessing this network to support clients and ensure effective Orange Door operations.
* Participating in the monitoring and delivery of projects to respond to local clinical or Child and Young Person practice needs, ensuring they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
* Providing expert knowledge, sound judgement and authoritative advice on risks, priorities, accountability and practice matters.
* Increasing community awareness regarding issues affecting families and available support services.

Qualifications

* This role is subject to the mandatory minimum qualifications policy (Recommendation 209 of the Royal Commission into Family Violence). Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification, or be working towards meeting this requirement.
* Willingness to obtain a valid Working with Children Check and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencing employment with us. If you have spent over 12 months overseas in the last 10 years, you will also be required to undergo an International Police Check or present evidence of a satisfactory check.
* Valid Victorian Driver Licence.


Specialist Expertise

* A strong knowledge and understanding of the drivers/causes of family violence and child and family vulnerability, as well as child and family services and/or broader social services sector.
* Demonstrated experience in developing interventions to reduce risk and vulnerabilities to infants, children and young people using theoretical frameworks to underpin the approaches.
* Demonstrated experience in leading practice within a complex service delivery environment, particularly multidisciplinary and multi‑agency approaches to the provision of services to vulnerable children, families and diverse communities.
