The Opportunity
The Perioperative Medicine Team conducts research on all aspects of clinical perioperative care through leading the most active paediatric anaesthesia research program in Australasia, focusing on continuously driving improvements in safety and quality of care. We are seeking a talented Data Scientist able to provide data and statistical guidance and support on study design, data management and analysis of study data and results. This opportunity will be varied and exciting, giving you the chance to work with world‐class researchers to make a difference to child health. This is a full‐ or part‐time position for 12 months, co‐located within the Perth Children's Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Design and development of data capture, storage, and analysis workflows
* Optimise workflows, particularly to create efficiencies within the team or across multiple projects
* Liaise with collaborators (internal and external) regarding their research interests and data requirements and combine data from multiple sources
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in statistics, mathematics, science or a relevant discipline.
* Strong data management skills, analytical abilities and knowledge of quantitative data analysis methods
* Demonstrated ability to utilise R, Python, SAS, Stata or equivalent statistical package for data management and statistical analysis
* Experience in the application of statistical methods to the analysis of health and/or biological data
* Demonstrated ability to develop data workflows including automated reporting
* Awareness of considerations relevant to handling sensitive data
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to communicate effectively with professionals with varying levels of computer knowledge
