**Who are we looking for?**

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a STEM Educator (Financial Maths, Statistics and Economics) to join Learning and Teaching Unit, Education Portfolio, Academic Division.

The primary purpose of the STEM Educator (Financial Maths, Statistics and Economics) is to provide timely and targeted services and initiatives to support the STEM academic learning needs of QUT students. In addition to the work related to the STEM academic support for student learning, the STEM Educator (Financial Maths, Statistics and Economics) will work in partnership with the SSG Strategic Leads, Career Educators, and Language and Learning Educators from across the faculties to contribute to the work of the Student Success Group strategic priorities.

**About the Academic Division**

The Academic Division is responsible for supporting and delivering learning, teaching, research and research services to students and staff. This is realised via the Education and Research portfolios and through the work of our faculties.

The Head of the Academic Division is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic), Professor Robina Xavier. Professor Xavier provides strategic oversight and financial management of the Division and provides leadership to the Education portfolio.

The Division's Research portfolio and academic faculties are led by the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research), Professor Christopher Barner-Kowollik.

**About the Learning and Teaching Unit**

The Learning and Teaching Unit (LTU) is committed to a culture of collaboration, working in partnership with students, industry representatives, and staff across QUT to meet the evolving needs of our learners.

Guided by our Real World Learning Vision, LTU leads and coordinates learning and teaching across QUT, leveraging existing initiatives and enabling new ways of thinking and working that are learner-centric and future-focused.

The Student Success Group (SSG) works in partnership with Faculties, HiQ, Equity and Student Counselling, and other learning and personal support providers across the University (International Student Services, Student Engagement, Widening Participation, Student Business Services). The SSG aims to provide access to the highest quality of support for learning and careers and engagement services and strategies to empower students with the tools, connections, and mindsets to achieve their full academic potential and to design their real world futures.

**What you need to succeed**

This role will suit those who have exceptional relationship management and highly developed interpersonal skills to build and foster connections within QUT and with the wider community.

You will demonstrate:

- Education, training and/or experience equivalent to completion of a degree in a discipline with a strong relevance to financial maths, statistics and economics academic and learning practice, and pedagogy, with at least four years subsequent relevant work experience.
- Expertise in financial maths, statistics and economics at a university-level.
- Proven experience in promoting and teaching others to develop the strategies needed to engage effectively in mathematics and/or science support for learning in physical (face-to-face) and virtual environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues which affect STEM learning, retention and success in higher education as well as a commitment to working from a social justice framework.
