Senior Software Engineer – Android
Senior Software Engineers set technical direction, assist lead roles in creating strategic roadmaps, and prioritize efforts to meet objectives.
They provide technical leadership, make decisions, and ensure quality and efficiency in project execution. They translate blueprints into architecture, coach others, and contribute across the technology organization.
What Success Looks Like – Technical Leadership
* Drive technical direction for your squad or multi‐squad group, ensuring decisions aggregate into a cohesive, scalable system.
* Translate high‐level blueprints into actionable patterns; prototype and implement solutions addressing scaling and performance.
* Own end‐to‐end lifecycle of owned services; identify and resolve blockers proactively.
* Contribute to and extend shared patterns and platforms, ensuring implementations stay true to the original design.
Driving Engineering Excellence
* Set frameworks for testing, documentation, and version control; accountable for technical integrity and prevention of technical debt.
* Continuously evaluate SDLC, identify gaps, and drive improvements for faster, safer delivery.
* Stay current with industry trends, evaluate technologies, and prioritize platform improvements.
Mentoring & People Development
* Provide real‐time technical coaching and mentorship to junior and mid‐level engineers.
* Lead by example, promote best practices, and ensure team skills to deliver on roadmap.
* Facilitate collaboration across teams, improving cross‐functional outcomes and knowledge sharing.
Delivery & Influence
* Act as primary technical point of contact for leadership; estimate effort and mitigate delivery risks.
* Lead or participate in Communities of Practice to share knowledge across the tech function.
* Maintain deep understanding of business domain and ensure technical solutions provide maximum value.
Experience
* 5+ years in native Android development.
* Proven track record designing and architecting mobile solutions at scale.
* Leadership experience shipping major features in a mobile app.
* Experience developing for high‐traffic/customer‐facing or complex enterprise applications.
* Optimizing engineering practices and processes with tech leads.
* Experience in Agile environments.
* Mentoring and coaching junior and mid‐level engineers.
* Collaboration across Product, Design, and Tech on technical roadmaps.
* Experience with microservices architecture and its integration with mobile frontends.
* Active contributor to Android community or internal best practice groups.
* Experience with GraphQL or similar technologies.
Technical Skills
* Deep expertise in Swift and strong understanding of Objective‐C for legacy support.
* Deep expertise in iOS SDK and core frameworks (Foundation, UIKit, Combine).
* Architecture patterns: MVVM, VIPER, TCA (Composable Architecture).
* UI/UX implementation: Advanced skills building dynamic UIs using SwiftUI and UIKit, adhering to Apple HIG.
* Performance optimization: profiling apps using Instruments.
* Testing and QA: XCTest, XCUITest, TDD.
* Memory management: ARC, battery, memory, network optimization.
* API integration: consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL (URLSession, Apollo), data serialization with Codable.
* Proficient with Xcode, Swift Package Manager, CocoaPods, Git.
* Mobile accessibility: VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and Apple standards.
* CI/CD and DevOps: fastlane, GitHub Actions/Bitrise, App Store Connect/TestFlight.
Education and Certifications
* Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
* [BONUS] AWS (or other Cloud Platform) certification.
