PhD Scholarship: Modelling Mineral Supply for the Energy Transition
We are seeking a talented PhD scholar to join our research team and contribute to the development of scenario modelling frameworks for understanding the long-term supply of minerals needed for the transition to renewable energy and battery technologies.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Northey and Professor Damien Giurco, and have the opportunity to collaborate with other project partners on a transdisciplinary research project that explores the connections between supply scenarios for energy transition minerals.
This is a prestigious PhD scholarship available at the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), with a stipend of AUD$37,500 tax-free per annum for three and a half years, and additional funds for travel and project work.
* The PhD project will focus on advancing scenario modelling frameworks for understanding the long-term supply of minerals such as copper, lithium, and nickel.
* The student will work to advance understanding of the intersection between energy technologies, energy transition mineral supply chains, sustainable development, and decarbonisation outcomes.
We are looking for candidates with a background in industrial ecology, material flow analysis, life cycle assessment, environmental engineering, geoscience, mineral processing, resource economics, or scenario modelling. The successful applicant will be enrolled at the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures and will benefit from the wider scholarly environment provided by collaborators and international project partners.
Benefits
The scholarship offers a range of benefits, including:
* AUD$37,500 tax-free stipend per annum for three and a half years.
* Additional funds for travel and project work.
We encourage outstanding candidates who are passionate about contributing to the development of scenario modelling frameworks for understanding the long-term supply of minerals to apply for this prestigious PhD scholarship.
