As a Financial Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for evaluating and processing merchant credit applications, making informed credit decisions, and ensuring compliance with lending policies. You'll engage directly with stakeholders, brokers, and customers to assess creditworthiness and deliver a smooth application process.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and assess credit applications from merchants and brokers in accordance with lending policies and risk frameworks.
* Analyse applicants' financial profiles, including income, liabilities, and living expenses, to determine affordability.
* Conduct credit bureau and banking history checks, assess credit conduct, and verify employment stability.
* Make credit recommendations or approvals within a defined lending mandate.
* Liaise directly with brokers, merchants, and internal teams to gather information and deliver timely decisions.
* Assist in inbound and outbound calls related to credit assessments, re-advances, and general underwriting queries.
* Maintain accurate documentation of credit decisions and support compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate on the daily collections process, monitor direct debit activity, and manage exceptions or failed payments.
* Support continuous improvement of credit workflows, underwriting documentation, and risk policy frameworks.
Requirements
* Prior experience in credit assessment, credit risk, or underwriting.
* Strong knowledge of income analysis, credit file interpretation, and affordability evaluation.
* Excellent attention to detail and judgement when identifying potential risks.
* Outstanding communication skills for dealing with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with a customer-first mindset.
