The opportunity: We are seeking a Part time Biostatistician to join the Intergenerational Health Research Group. This role will contribute to analysis of longitudinal data collected in a 20-year mother and child cohort study conducted by the group. The study is examining the experiences of women, children and young people exposed to family violence.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the analysis and reporting of observational data, contribute to scientific publications, and work closely with senior investigators and other members of the research team.
This role is offered part-time (22.8 to 30.4 hours per week) on an 18-month contract.
About the Intergenerational Health Group
The Intergenerational Health Group at MCRI works towards a more equitable and inclusive world where children, families and communities experience safety, belonging and opportunities for growth. Our research focuses on:
* Building understanding of the causes and consequences of intergenerational trauma at a population level, including within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other marginalised communities
* Strengthening the capacity of health and social care policy, workforce and systems to deliver culturally safe and trauma-responsive care
* Working in partnership with communities, practitioners and policy makers to translate evidence into action that promotes resilience and addresses intergenerational trauma, family violence and social inequity
What you'll do
* Conduct statistical analyses and data processing (with supervision)
* Contribute to statistical analysis plans and research protocols
* Prepare tables, figures and reports for publications and presentations
* Contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts
* Participate in research and professional development activities
What you'll bring
* Master's degree in biostatistics, applied statistics or related field
* Strong skills in Stata and/or R
* Experience in collaborative health or clinical research
* Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines
* Experience in analysing longitudinal data, particularly relating to social and health outcome is desirable
