The role
ONI is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR professional with experience in one or more of the following areas: HR generalist work, payroll coordination, workplace relations, or HR systems support.
In this role, you will work closely with managers, employees, and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality HR and payroll services. You will contribute to payroll services (we use an external provider for payroll processing), assist with HR policy development, support enterprise bargaining activities, implement WHS policies, and help coordinate diversity programs. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, work independently and take ownership of tasks, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances and pivot between competing demands.
This is a dynamic position where you'll expand and grow your HR skills across a range of functions while being part of a workplace that values innovation, celebrates success, and enjoys working together.
Key duties of the role may include:
* Responding to HR and payroll enquiries, providing accurate advice on pay, entitlements, leave, superannuation, and related matters in line with legislation and ONI policies.
* Coordinating payroll processes with external providers, including quality assurance checks and resolving discrepancies.
* Assisting with the development, implementation, and review of HR policies and procedures, and supporting initiatives such as WHS and diversity programs.
* Supporting HR systems (Aurion) by preparing user guides, troubleshooting issues, and participating in system enhancements and user acceptance testing (UAT).
* Monitoring changes in employment legislation, HR policy, and payroll systems, and recommending compliance measures to mitigate risk.
* Preparing and delivering clear communications to employees and managers on payroll, workplace relations, WHS, and diversity initiatives.
* Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver HR and payroll services.
* Maintaining accurate records in the electronic records management system and handling sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
Key attributes
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Proven experience as an HR Generalist, Payroll or Workplace Relations Advisor (or similar role), preferably within the Commonwealth sector, demonstrating the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Sound knowledge of payroll systems, HR policy frameworks, industrial relations legislation, policies, and procedures.
* General knowledge of, or interest in, enterprise bargaining, WHS legislation and/or diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and solutions-based advice on payroll and HR matters, often under tight timeframes.
* Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and adapt your approach to different stakeholders and changing circumstances.
