Griffith Base Hospital is a 119 bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. It provides a 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) with 15 ED spaces, supported by an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and telehealth connections to NSW Critical Care Advisory Service.
Where you’ll be working
Griffith Base Hospital, Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), NSW Health. The MLHD serves the Riverina and Murray regions of New South Wales across approximately 125,631 square kilometres, employing around 3,500 staff across 31 facilities.
What you’ll be doing
A Visiting Medical Officer is required to provide non-procedural GP services at Griffith Base Hospital. The VMO will provide a high level of clinical care to patients and participate in the on-call roster. VMOs are expected to participate in service and policy development and to engage in education, training and quality improvement activities. The incumbent will support core NSW public sector values of cultural diversity, equity and ethical practice, and a healthy, safe and fair workplace.

Selection Criteria
* Current Registration: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner.
* Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology or Rural Medicine is an advantage.
* Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department, including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership.
* Commitment to teaching, continuing education, and quality improvement.
* Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
* Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and MLHD values, goals and strategies.
