About the Role
Reporting into the General Manager – Marketing & Category this newly created role will lead Category and Insights across a diverse FMCG product range, across both Grocery and QSR Channels.
This is a highly strategic and commercially influential role, requiring someone who can connect the dots between Sales, Marketing, and customers to drive growth outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for building long-term category strategies, leading insight generation, and translating data into clear commercial actions that influence ranging, pricing, promotional and portfolio decisions.
The role will partner closely with the Sales team during customer reviews and joint business planning cycles, while also supporting the broader marketing function with consumer, shopper, and market insights.
This role will also provide leadership and support to a junior Insights Analyst based at Helensvale Head Office, making collaboration and coaching capability important. The preference is for the role to be based on the Gold Coast at Head Office, however Melbourne may also be considered for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and execution of category strategies across the APAC portfolios.
* Deliver insight-led recommendations across ranging, pricing, promotional strategy, and innovation opportunities.
* Translate complex consumer, shopper and market data into clear commercial strategies and actionable recommendations.
* Partner closely with Sales to support customer meetings, category reviews and joint business planning discussions.
* Develop compelling customer-facing category stories and presentations that drive engagement and commercial outcomes.
* Analyse syndicated and retailer data to identify trends, risks and growth opportunities across channels and categories.
* Support innovation and portfolio decisions through market analysis and performance evaluation.
* Build dashboards, reporting frameworks and category performance measures to support ongoing decision making.
* Work collaboratively across Sales and Marketing, acting as the key link between the two functions.
* Mentor and support the development of the Insights Analyst and help uplift category capability across the business.
* Manage relationships with external data and insights providers including Nielsen, Aztec, Quantium and other research partners.
Background & Experience
* 7–10 years’ experience within Category, Category Development, or Insights roles, ideally within FMCG.
* Experience working across Grocery or QSR channels will be highly regarded.
* Strong capability developing category strategies and turning data into commercially meaningful outcomes.
* Advanced experience using syndicated data platforms including Nielsen, Aztec and Quantium.
* Proven ability to influence stakeholders across Sales, Marketing and external customers.
* Comfortable presenting insights and recommendations to both internal leadership teams and customers.
* A collaborative and commercially minded approach, with the ability to operate effectively in a growing and evolving business.
* Experience mentoring or developing junior team members.
* Willingness to travel as required for customer engagement and business needs.
