Offer description

Greenpeace is a leading independent environmental campaigning organisation that uses non-violent direct action to expose global environmental problems and promote solutions. The Australia Pacific region's national Greenpeace organisation, GPAP, operates in numerous countries across the area. As a key part of its mission, GPAP works towards upholding the values of independence, bearing witness, and non-violent direct action. In order to maintain the integrity of the organisation, we are seeking up to three new directors who will be appointed for a three-year term.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will have various responsibilities as members of the Board of Directors. These duties include ensuring that GPAP's mission remains clear and relevant; providing guidance on setting the direction of the organisation; monitoring programmes and activities to ensure alignment with the mission and achievement of goals; ensuring executive performance by setting objectives and reviewing progress; obtaining and using resources required to carry out the mission and sustain it; and being satisfied with financial and other reporting. Furthermore, the directors must uphold their statutory and fiduciary duties, act in good faith, avoid conflicts of interest, and demonstrate a duty of care, diligence, and skill.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who can display leadership, work collaboratively and cooperatively, and speak up to ask hard questions. It is also essential that applicants have sufficient time to commit effectively to GPAP Board work. We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, Indigenous peoples from the Pacific, people with disability, young people, women, neurodiverse individuals, non-binary and gender-diverse people, LGBTQIA+, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess particular skills or experience in one or more of the following areas: corporate governance, environmental campaigning, fundraising, finance and financial management, a deep understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and social context of First Nations people, research, and/or scientific literacy.

Application Process

Candidates should submit their application through the provided Recruiterflow form. They should upload an abbreviated resume (two pages maximum) in PDF format. Additionally, if they are not already a member of the GPAP General Assembly, they must apply for membership using the same form. If any accessibility issues arise with the Recruiterflow platform, please contact GPAP's company secretary.
