Job Description
Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of contractor payroll across multiple Australian states and Recent Zealand. This role manages high‐volume payroll operations and supports the processing of both contractor and permanent recruitment invoicing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end‐to‐end processing of Weekly and Fortnightly contractor payrolls in a high‐volume environment.
- Calculate and process ad hoc payments, including contractor bonuses and back‐pay adjustments.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including superannuation, taxation, banking details, salary‐sacrifice devices, and novated lease deductions.
- Perform detailed payroll validation checks to identify discrepancies.
- Ensure ongoing reconciliation of payroll data to maintain compliance and accuracy.
- Prepare and perform weekly/fortnightly electronic funds transfers (EFT) and check runs.
- Ensure all vendor discounts are captured, and payments are made within credit terms.
- Manage employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit card reconciliations.
- Reconcile vendor statements monthly to ensure all liabilities are recorded.
- Assist with month‐end closing activities and accrual preparations.
- Maintain the integrity of the Accounts Payable Ledger.
- Act as a key point of contact for payroll‐related queries from contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, including management of overpayment recoveries.
- Distribute payslips and payroll communications within required timeframes.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams to resolve payroll queries and improve service delivery.
- Provide support and coverage for Payroll Officers during periods of leave.
- Proactively communicate payroll deadlines and requirements, including reminders for timesheets and onboarding documentation.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain professional, responsive, and solution‐focused communication at all times.
