About the Role: Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance (CFO) to lead financial operations within a NSW Government agency on a contract basis. Hybrid working model Work across two offices $95 per hour super Contract until 31 July 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving best-practice financial management, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and enabling informed decision-making across the organisation. You will lead a high-performing finance team and partner closely with executives, NSW Treasury and key stakeholders to support financial sustainability and strategic outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead financial strategy, governance, and risk management frameworks Oversee statutory and management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Government legislation Manage cash flow, liquidity, and financial controls Deliver financial modelling, business cases and scenario analysis Provide strategic financial advice to executives and senior stakeholders Oversee procurement governance in line with NSW Government frameworks Lead audit, risk and compliance activities Build strong relationships with NSW Treasury and external stakeholders About You You are a seasoned finance executive with strong public sector or large organisational experience, bringing both strategic insight and leadership capability. Essential requirements: Degree in Accounting or Finance CPA Australia or CA ANZ qualification 8 years’ experience in financial management and accounting Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Government frameworks (including Public Finance and Audit Act 1983, Treasury Directions, procurement policies) Proven leadership experience managing finance teams Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial modelling Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Experience with ERP/accounting systems Willingness to work across multiple sites Apply now to be considered for this exciting opportunity!
