About the Role
The Kitchen Team Leader plays a vital role in supporting the Rockingham Corps community by coordinating and overseeing kitchen and café operations on assigned days. Working alongside volunteers, you'll ensure meals and refreshments are prepared and served safely, efficiently and in line with Salvation Army values.
This is a max-term parental leave cover for approximately 10 months, working two days per week: Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Pay is in accordance with SCHADS Level 4.1.
How You Will Make an Impact
* Lead and support a team of kitchen assistants and café attendants, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
* Prepare, cook and serve meals using purchased and donated food items, ensuring quality and timeliness.
* Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen in line with WHS and food safety requirements.
* Provide friendly, respectful customer service to community members and visitors.
* Oversee stock rotation, basic ordering requirements and general kitchen organisation.
* Ensure volunteers are trained and supported in customer service and kitchen procedures.
* Contribute to the smooth running of community programs, including café service, community lunches and simple meal offerings.
What You Will Bring
* Formal qualification in hospitality/catering or equivalent experience.
* Food Safety Supervisor qualification.
* Demonstrated experience in kitchen operations, food handling, menu planning and staff/volunteer coordination.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
* A calm, professional approach, especially in busy or challenging situations.
