The Role

Permanent position for a HSE Officer to join our Tomago team (supporting our Carrington team when needed) who will partner with our various business units to support the continuous improvement and implementation of contemporary & effective Health Safety and Environment systems.


Key Accountabilities

* HSE Advisory and Support: Provide timely accurate HSE advice and act as the first point of contact for safety‑related matters across the Group.
* Partner with leaders to develop implement and review safety initiatives and programs that enhance workplace safety.
* Assist with return to work coordination for injured workers as required.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation policies guidelines and insurance requirements.
* Promote and model positive safety behaviours that foster a proactive HSE culture.
* Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the WHS Management System in alignment with legislative requirements.
* Assist with internal audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness of HSE systems and processes.
* Conduct peer reviews of draft HSE documentation to ensure clarity accuracy and alignment with policy.
* Provide governance monitoring and training to support stakeholders in meeting HSE compliance obligations.
* Lead allocated site inspections safety observations and hazard identification activities.
* Conduct and document incident investigations ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
* Facilitate competency assessments to verify understanding and application of safety requirements.
* Develop and deliver in‑house HSE presentations and training programs.
* Communicate openly effectively and respectfully with all stakeholders to support understanding and commitment to HSE standards.
* Facilitate system administration for HSE applications and maintain accurate HSE records.
* Provide administrative and data entry support for HSE processes as required.
* Complete allocated HSE actions within agreed timeframes.
* Comply with all company policies procedures and standards.


To be considered for this role you will

* Formal qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field or equivalent industry experience.
* Mechanical trade qualification or experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment (desirable).
* Demonstrated experience in HSE advisory or officer roles with practical knowledge of WHS legislation.
* Competent in the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Confident in delivering presentations and training programs.
* Current Class C drivers license.
* High Risk Licenses (LF DG CN) preferred but not essential.
