Senior Category Buyer – Menswear

Myer is looking for a Senior Category Buyer to join the Menswear team and take ownership of the National Brands portfolio. The role is partly remote and partly from our Support Office based in Docklands.

About the Opportunity

Take ownership and drive the execution of the Myer merchandise strategy for Men's National Brands.

• Full accountability for trading the category and implementing appropriate tactical activities related to sales, profit and stock to drive business outcomes.
• Act as 2IC for the Category Manager with potential to take on business development and market scoping activities as required.
• Manage the complete range selection for national brands, including order placement and financial performance, budgets, price architecture and sourcing.
• Drive sourcing strategy for the brand ensuring product is sourced in the appropriate markets for product improvement and margin gain.
• Maintain solid competitor and trend analysis to remain relevant and build a range to suit the market and Myer customer segmentation.
• Apply advanced negotiation skills to achieve optimal trading terms that deliver commercial targets.
• Work collaboratively with the planning team to determine assortment plans, conduct PSA, build product strategy and determine best sourcing methods for the product.
• Be responsible for marketing plans and our communications strategy.
• Lead the team to high performance through regular and effective coaching, feedback, mentoring and training and development opportunities.

About You

• Proven experience in buying at a senior level, brand management or category management (menswear or adjacent preferred).
• A dynamic, strategic individual with the ability to proactively spot new opportunities for the business within this category.
• Strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills.
• Superior supplier relationship management skills.
• Experienced in trade marketing and strong negotiation skills.
• Passionate for product with experience in ranging that demonstrates interpretation of trends into a successful product range.
• A leader who inspires others and can lead by example.
