We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Procurement Officer to join the team out of its new stunning Canberra office. In the role you will play a critical role in supporting the Senior Management team by managing the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of goods and services. This position ensures that procurement activities are executed in a cost-effective, timely, and compliant manner, in accordance with Navantia's procurement policies and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Oversee end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including planning, sourcing, negotiation, and contract execution, to support Navantia Australia's Executive Committee and corporate business units.
* Ensure procurement activities align with strategic objectives, operational requirements, and corporate governance standards.
* Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes to enhance efficiency, transparency, and cost-effectiveness.
* Monitor daily procurement operations for compliance with Navantia's policies
* Conduct market research and analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and emerging supplier capabilities.
* Prepare and issue RFQs/RFTs, evaluate bids, and lead negotiations to secure optimal terms and conditions.
* Manage contract administration, as well as handling purchase order variations and amendments.
* Develop and maintain a preferred supplier base, ensuring competitive pricing, quality standards, and long-term partnerships. Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement
* Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, providing guidance on procurement strategies, category plans, probity, and compliance requirements.
* Instigate supplier onboarding.
* Foster strong commercial relationships with suppliers
* Work closely with business units, quality assurance, and project teams to confirm that procured materials and services meet technical specifications and contractual obligations.
* Ensure compliance with Australian regulatory standards, defence industry requirements, and Navantia's internal governance framework.
* Monitor supplier performance against KPIs, delivery schedules, and quality benchmarks.
* Proactively identify and resolve delivery delays, supply chain disruptions, and continuity risks.
* Conduct supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions where necessary.
* Monitor and manage assigned (purchase requisitions)
* Monitor and manage RFQ (Request for Quotation) requests
* Utilize SAP exception reporting to identify and resolve procurement issues such as overdue, unactioned, or blocked orders.
* Maintain accurate financial records for procurement transactions, ensuring alignment with corporate accounting standards and audit requirements.
* Support budget tracking and cost analysis, providing insights to management on procurement spend and savings opportunities.
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and best practices across procurement operations.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
* Professional certifications such as MCIPS, CPM, CPSM, or equivalent is highly desirable.
* Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated experience in procurement, preferably within the Defence industry or related sectors.
* Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to collaborate with Defence
* Advanced problem-solving, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.
* Australian Citizenship.
