* Base salary $77K-$86K (paid on a pro rata basis)

The Role
We are seeking a dynamic program maker to produce programs for ABC North Queensland. This involves creating content to attract local audiences on radio, online and social media and collaborating with video makers. Under the general direction of the Editor, and in collaboration with colleagues you will have the following responsibilities:
* Create content for multiple platforms to engage local and national audiences.
* Provide in-studio production support and manage talk-back callers and guests.
* Develop and distribute new content ideas to achieve strong reach and engagement with audiences.
* Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.

About You
You are a professional operator with developing skills, knowledge and experience in a Producer role. You possess, or have the ability to quickly develop, program making skills to make original and engaging audio and cross-platform content for target audience. This role is the perfect opportunity to display your developing editorial skills, including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.

ABC Regional is looking for a producer in our Townsville bureau to help set the day’s news agenda and be part of a dynamic team. Townsville is a major regional hub and our ABC North Queensland bureau covers stories of national significance including federal, state and local politics. Our reporters travel across the region and focus on a wide range of issues including reef research, defence, development, agriculture and indigenous affairs.
