ROLE DESCRIPTION
The position of Tuckshop Assistant is to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Tuckshop and be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Tuckshop in accordance with relevant industry best practices and in accordance with the policies and procedures as determined by the Principal in consultation with the Business Manager.
Starting January Hours will be Wednesday 7.30am - 2.00pm & Friday 7.30am - 2.00pm
The Tuckshop Assistant works under the direction of the Tuckshop Convenor.
In carrying out the duties and responsibilities, the Tuckshop Assistant is expected to consistently project an atmosphere of Christian Service to all sectors of the school community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Within the guidelines and procedures set by the School, assist in the day-to-day operation of the Tuckshop.
• Provide services in a professional manner with due skill and care and in accordance with relevant industry best practices.
• Follow safe food handling procedures and follow relevant procedures.
• Ensure that all stock is prepared and stored in accordance with correct food handling and hygiene procedures within the guidelines and procedures.
• Liaise when required, directly with Flexischools and consult the Business Manager regarding any issues that may arise.
• Ensure all stock is rotated using the "first in first off" (FIFO) stock method.
• Maintain positive relationships with all Suppliers and advise the Business Manager of all changes of service providers/suppliers.
• Ensure that all stock is prepared and stored in accordance with correct food handling and hygiene procedures with the guidelines and processes set by the school.
• Exercise a Duty of Care with regards to all persons present in and at the Tuckshop.
• Restrict Tuckshop entry to authorised persons only.
• The Tuckshop Assistant may assist in the organisation and supervision of catering as required.
• All other duties as requested.
ADMINISTRATION
• Reconcile the cash takings daily and ensure they are taken daily to the school office for banking.

• Maintain positive relationships with all staff, parents, and children.
• Support staff in upholding the philosophy and practices of the school.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Participate in professional development as requested by the Business Manager.
• Undertake and comply with mandatory training and regulatory requirements as determined by the School.
• Undertake all duties in accordance with School Policies & procedures and legislative requirements (e.g., Workplace Health & Safety)
• Abide by the Schools Code of Conduct & Child Protection Policies.
KEY CRITERIA
Qualifications:
• Food Safety Certificate and/or equivalent relevant experience. Must be able to obtain Food Safety Certificate.
Skills:
• Experience working in a retail environment with a requirement for high quality customer service.
• Demonstrated experience relating to and engaging positively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and sound interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under the direction of the Tuckshop Convenor and assist the Tuckshop Convenor as requested.
