AECOM's environmental practice is dedicated to helping clients and government to develop critical infrastructure for energy transition, maritime growth, and Defence capability, while protecting the natural environment and meeting their environmental responsibilities. We provide advisory and technical services to mitigate impacts, safeguard compliance, and proactively reduce risks by influencing design, engaging regulators and tackling climate resilience to secure long-term solutions and workable approvals. We focus on preserving habitats and cultural resources, protecting water quality and community values, and promoting a holistic approach to environmental impact assessment at every project stage.
Join our multidisciplinary team providing strategic environmental advice, design optimisation, impact assessment, and management planning to facilitate approvals for the NT's strong economic growth. In this role, you will lend your strengths to technical excellence in project delivery, proactive client engagement and work winning, collaboration and mentoring supporting positive team culture and high performing work environment across NT and national Environment business line.
How you'll make a difference
* Environment lead for high profile projects to secure State and Commonwealth approvals in collaboration with clients and cross-business line teams
* Self-starter and driven to effectively manage delivery of complex Environmental Impact Assessment and approvals, including coordination of multidisciplinary technical teams, impact assessment and approval processes
* Lead and review environmental approvals, impact assessments, and management plans across a diverse range of projects and environmental services, ensuring technical excellence and compliance
* Proven technical leadership and confidence managing multidisciplinary technical teams to identify risks, solve problems, communicate change through planning, design and approval processes
* Manage project resources and schedule, delegating activities, monitoring and managing project budgets (with support as required)

* Bachelor's degree in Regional/Urban Planning or Environmental Planning, Science or Engineering
* 12+ years relevant environmental assessment and approvals experience in a consulting environment (desirable)
* Demonstrated experience leading successful application of Commonwealth and State planning and environmental legislation on major projects
* Proven business development skills: client engagement, pipeline building, and proposal leadership
* Commercial acumen and experienced project manager, with advanced skill in schedule, resource and budget management
* Ideally, established networks across the NT market and Northern Australia and familiarity with key client project frameworks
* Excellent communication: clear report writing, compelling presentations, and confident engagement with clients, regulators, and communities
