Your new company
Minemakers Australia Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avenira Limited (ASX: AEV), is seeking a Developing Mine Surveyor / Senior Mine Surveyor to join the Technical Services team at the Wonarah Phosphate Project.
Your new role
This is a development-focused role designed for a capable Mine Surveyor who is progressing toward senior responsibilities. The position works closely with and supports the Senior Surveyor, contributing to safe, accurate, and compliant mine surveying outcomes.
A key requirement of the role is supporting clear technical communication across internal and external stakeholders, requiring fluent Mandarin and English, including basic technical translation and reporting.
The role is available on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Brisbane, Darwin, Carins or Townsville, with travel to and from Mount Isa.
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Support the Senior Surveyor across all mine surveying activities, including pit, stockpile, blast, and EOM surveys and reconciliations.
* Maintain survey control, spatial accuracy, and provide data for mine planning, reporting, and valuation.
* Assist with blast volume calculations, production reporting, and ground control monitoring.
* Collaborate with Mining, Geology, Operations, HSE, and support environmental and rehabilitation surveys.
* Coordinate with survey contractors and consultants.
* Translate technical discussions during meetings and prepare concise summary reports for relevant technical stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with statutory, site, and safety requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will need:
* Degree or Diploma in Surveying, or equivalent mine surveying experience.
* Significant experience in open pit mining surveying.
* Fluent Mandarin and English (essential).
* Ability to provide basic technical translation between Mandarin and English-speaking mining professionals, and to prepare written technical summaries in Mandarin.
* Previous experience with mine survey / planning software (e.g. Surpac, Deswik, Datamine, Micromine).
* Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and survey accuracy.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work across different cultures.
* Highly regarded: exposure to phosphate or flat-lying orebody operations, grade control, drill & blast, or stockpile reconciliation experience.
