The Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Tasmanian Branch is the largest union and professional body representing nurses, midwives and care workers in Tasmania. About the role
We are seeking a passionate individual to join our Launceston-based team as a Member Support Officer & Organiser. This part-time role (3–4 days per week) includes regular travel to local healthcare sites.
You will provide direct support to members through advice, advocacy and representation, while organising in workplaces to strengthen collective action and build the capacity of ANMF Workplace Representatives.
In this role you will:
* Provide timely and accurate industrial and professional advice to members
* Manage routine casework and representation, escalating complex matters where required
* Support, mentor and develop ANMF Workplace Representatives
* Engage with members in their workplaces to identify and address issues collectively
* Lead recruitment and retention activities to grow membership
* Assist with preparation of cases for tribunals and other forums
* Coordinate and contribute to industrial and professional campaigns
To be successful in this role you will bring:
* Current Nursing or Midwifery qualification and registration (highly desirable)
* Knowledge of relevant industrial, professional and clinical legislation
* Strong advocacy, negotiation and problem-solving skills
* Experience in recruitment, organising and campaign coordination
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
* Commitment to the principles of trade unionism
* High-level computer literacy and administrative skills
* Current driver's licence
