Job Title: Out Of School Care Manager
Location: Ashwood VIC
The High Intensity Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) Manager will apply a depth of knowledge and a broad range of skills to establish, deliver and lead a team of educators to provide after-school and vacation care service to benefit the children, families and community of Ashwood School.
As the person in day-to-day charge of the service, the High Intensity OSHC Manager is a responsible person under section 162 of the National Law. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service, through managing the administration, budget and operations of the OSHC service, liaising effectively with school staff and leadership to ensure the service delivers effectively to meet community needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Developing, implementing and evaluating the educational programme and delivery of the service.
* Proactively planning and ensuring educational programming, aligned with the My Time Our Place educational framework, is delivered in line with the interests, needs and goals of children and young people attending the service and evaluation is implemented.
* Managing educators and ensuring effective supervision, care and engagement of children and young people in attendance at the service.
* Managing, monitoring and undertaking the preparation of nutritious food for students ensuring this is done in a healthy and safe manner in accordance with Food Handling Health and Nutrition guidelines, policies and procedures.
* Recruiting and providing a relevant orientation process for all new educators to join the OSHC team to clearly inform them of the requirements and other procedural aspects of the day-to-day provision of the programme.
* Delivering, or ensuring that all staff undertake, relevant professional development and in-role training including child protection training, medical training, including additional training as required based on children's needs.
* Conducting regular monitoring and compliance of the service, ensuring maintenance of records and general service administration including but not limited to the completion of medical records, collection of data, staff records and other recording-keeping requirements.
* Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures specific for the service as set out by the Education and Care Services National Law Act ****, Education and Care Services National Regulations ****, and as required.
* Communicating and collaborating with families, including coordinating and maintaining enrollments of children and young people in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law Act **** and Education and Care Services National Regulations **** and policies and procedures of the service.
* Collaborating with the school's Business Manager on the OSHC budget requirements provided and account for expenditures in accordance with school procedures to ensure food, resources and supplies are maintained. Provide regular reports to the School Council/OSHC Sub Committee as required.
Qualifications: Hold or be currently working towards a Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Children Services/Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care, Primary Education or equivalent.
Skills: Senior First Aid training as prescribed in the Education and Care Services National Law Act ****, Anaphylaxis and Asthma management training as prescribed in the Education and Care Services National Law Act **** or willingness to undertake this training, Food Handling Licence or willingness to obtain one, Driver's Licence.
