Metro Mining Limited (ASX: MMI) is an Australian mining company based in Brisbane. Metro's flagship project, the Bauxite Hills Operation, located 95km north of Weipa, is one of the largest independent projects within the internationally acclaimed Weipa Bauxite Region.
As part of the Technical Services Department, you will hold a key role in providing quality surveying services across site to assist in meeting production targets. The position provides support for Operations through the provision of design set outs, surveys of all mining activities, monitoring of geotechnical hazards, volume calculations and reconciliations for monthly reporting. This requires direct liaison with stakeholders to ensure operational goals are achieved and reporting requirements are met.
Roster is 15 days on and 13 days off, Day Shift only.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing reliable survey control to the mining operation
* Survey data & mine plan compilation
* Providing support to mine planners and operations through pit design set outs, topographic surveys, data reduction, accurate volume calculation and reporting all to enable the achievement of organisational goals
* Producing accurate survey data in accordance with statutory and company standards
* Conducting engineering surveys for mine infrastructure as well as end of month volumetric calculations
* Conducting drone surveys
* Focusing on health and safety while maintaining an environmental consideration
* Updating mine models, mining plans, and statutory plans
* Maintaining high levels of communication between departments
* Promoting a safe, healthy, cooperative and productive work environment
* Support the deliver of accurate survey in data accordance with Statutory and Company standards
Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Spatial Science (Surveying) or similar;
* Current C Class Open Driver Licence;
* Current First Aid Certificate;
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar surveying role, preferably within open cut mining operations;
* Strong knowledge of surveying principles and practices;
* Experience using Trimble GPS, Total Stations and I-Site scanners;
* RePL qualification with demonstrated UAV operational experience;
* Hold Queensland Survey Registration (or WA Grade 2 Survey qualification), or the ability to obtain registration within 6 months;
* Experience updating survey data files to GDA2020, including batch conversions;
* Proficiency in Surpac and advanced Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);
* Experience with machine guidance software, including Guidex and Trimble Earthworks, and fleet management systems such as Haul Trax;
* Strong reporting, verbal and written communication skills;
* Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines.
