Role

Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who spend the majority of their time teaching and mentoring. They deliver high‐quality lessons, observe and give feedback, and facilitate professional learning for teachers. The role aims to build excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.

Responsibilities

* Demonstrate high‐level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
* Model exemplary classroom practice, including through teaching demonstration lessons.
* Collaborate with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of effective teaching practice.
* Lead and model the implementation of whole‐school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
* Provide professional learning, including observation and feedback protocols and peer collaboration.
* Model effective use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
* Develop and promote school‐wide professional learning structures through Professional Learning Communities.
* Support the implementation of Disability Inclusion and coach staff on learning adjustments.
* Supervise and mentor student teachers.

Who May Apply

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Qualification Requirements

* Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
* Complete an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, and demonstrate satisfactory completion of a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program.
* If graduated from a Victorian ITE program after 1 July 2016, demonstrate passage of the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) requirements.
