PERSOL is one of Australia's leading professional, engineering and technical recruitment agencies, servicing clients nationally. We are currently looking for an experienced Rail Renewals Execution Coordinator to start immediately. The role will be based in Port Hedland on an 11/10 FIFO roster.
Role Overview
Within the Rail Network department, the Track Renewals team is responsible for executing large-scale capital and operation expenditure track works including Re Rail, Track Renewal/Reconstruction, turnout and cross over renewal, rail stress management and rail civil works. A Renewals Shutdown Coordinator is responsible for large‐scale shutdown planning and execution works, including but not limited to:
* Plain line renewals
* Turnout and crossover renewals
* Level Crossing renewals
* Re Rail and Destress
* Ballast Renewals (undercutting)
* Car Dumper and Train Load Out renewals
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring behaviour aligns with the BHP Charter Values, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
* Developing and sustaining a strong safety and collaborative culture in the rail renewals team.
* Holding or obtaining a Non Statutory WHS supervisor title.
* Maintaining an overriding commitment to health, safety, and environment within rail.
* Supervising and managing the safe execution of track renewals work banks.
* Developing and implementing track renewals methodologies in accordance with procedures and industry best practice and standards.
* Providing scoping and methodology of execution in work packs to contracting teams for execution renewal work banks.
* Leading the Renewals Shutdown Execution team, including direct management of internal contracting teams.
* Supervising contractor and sub‐contractor groups during execution of works to ensure all technical and quality standards are achieved safely, and maintaining accurate records of the various contractor's personnel and equipment on site to enable accurate reports.
* Performing site safety functions, including field leadership schedules, reviewing and signing Task Based Risk Assessments (JHA), participating in on‐site safety meetings and actioning findings identified through safety audits in a timely manner.
* Being the single point of accountability at worksites under supervision, including management of events (hazards, near miss or actuals).
* Promptly completing supporting and reporting documentation and 1SAP work management.
* Confirming works are constructed to contractual requirements and timelines, including adherence to RFQ/SOW and authorising of ITPs.
* Preparing permits and communication packages, including permit to work, general alerts, traffic control plans and excavation permits.
* Contributing to continuous improvement in the rail renewals team.
* Maintaining a strong commitment to field leadership and on‐site verifications of safety critical controls.
Key Skills and Qualifications
* Experience leading execution work groups (Track execution works desirable).
* Strong safety and risk management skills.
* Cert 2 in Rail Infrastructure (Cert 3 desired).
* Process driven with the ability to identify issues and coordinate problem solving.
* Ability to work autonomously to meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience in 1SAP work management desirable.
* Experience in using Microsoft suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).
* An energetic and enthusiastic approach to work, with a drive to develop and learn.
* Ability to problem solve and react to unplanned situations in a controlled manner.
* A teamwork mentality to achieve results.
