Principal - Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School
Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School, Cowes is the first Catholic school established on Phillip Island. Opening on 29 January 2018 with an initial enrolment of 18 students from Foundation to Year 5, the school has experienced steady growth and now welcomes 110 students from Foundation to Year 6.
The school’s mission is to provide a Catholic education grounded in the Gospels and the teachings of Christ, as part of the broader mission of the Catholic Church. It is committed to fostering a warm, inclusive, and welcoming workplace for families while delivering a high-quality, holistic education.
Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School is committed to cultivating environmental stewardship and encouraging global citizenship among students. Guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and enabled by expert teacher practice, the school delivers the Victorian curriculum and Diocesan Religious Education curriculum, providing a comprehensive education and learning progression for all its students.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership to ensure delivery of a high-quality Catholic education and strong Catholic identity.
- Lead the implementation of the Victorian curriculum and Diocesan Religious Education curriculum in alignment with school objectives.
- Foster expert teaching practice and improved student learning outcomes across the school.
- Promote leadership for learning, professional learning, and school improvement.
- Ensure child safety and a safe, inclusive environment for staff, students and families.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualification and registration to lead a school in the education system.
- Proven experience in school leadership or senior management; track record of improving student outcomes.
- Strong values-aligned with Catholic education and ability to promote Catholic Identity.
