Support Worker Role
The Universal Aftercare Service is a non-clinical support service focused on providing rapid practical psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide. As a Support Worker, you will work alongside our experienced professionals to provide essential assistance and support to individuals in need.
Key responsibilities of the role include undertaking initial intake and safety planning for clients, creating individualized care plans, and providing ongoing support sessions with clients. You will also liaise with other support services and organizations to coordinate the requirements of the care plan, deliver group programs that support the practical needs of the clients, and assist clients in the process of transition out of the service into independence or other services.
Additionally, you will work closely with clients to understand their unique needs and develop tailored solutions to support them. You will also contribute to the development of new programs and initiatives aimed at improving client outcomes and enhancing the overall quality of service delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant relevant work experience
* Sound understanding of mental health, suicidality, mental health systems, and recovery-oriented practice
* Psycho-social rehabilitation skills and experience working within a peer workforce with a focus on trauma-informed recovery-oriented practice and valuing lived experience
