About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist – Forensics to join a specialist forensic mental health team. This role involves delivering high-quality psychiatric care to individuals involved with the criminal justice system, including those requiring assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in secure inpatient and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Conducting comprehensive forensic psychiatric assessments and risk evaluations
* Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients in secure units and community programs
* Providing expert advice to courts, correctional facilities, and legal stakeholders
* Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, evidence-based care
* Supervising junior medical staff and contributing to education and training
* Supporting service development, clinical governance, and culturally safe practices
About You
* FRANZCP or equivalent, with experience or advanced training in forensic psychiatry
* AHPRA specialist registration in psychiatry
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Commitment to recovery-oriented care and cultural safety
