Job location
Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield, just 15 minutes north of Melbourne city centre. Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced, like-minded professionals to join our team. Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure mental health hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs. With planned expansion starting in 2024, including a dedicated Women's service and an additional medium secure men's facility, now is the time to join us
About the Role:
The Freedom of Information and Information Access Manager coordinates and manages the release of information held by Forensicare in accordance with applicable legislation, including the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) and other relevant laws. Acts as a decision-maker for FOI requests, managing requests for personal, health, and corporate information.
Duties:
* Provide expert advice on FOI administration, guidelines, and processes.
* Draft correspondence, reports, and briefings related to FOI matters.
* Mentor, train, and develop team members.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, to resolve FOI issues.
* Represent Forensicare in FOI forums and contribute to policy development.
* Develop and deliver FOI training and awareness programs.
* Promote a culture of compliance and accountability in handling information requests.
About You:
* Relevant qualification in law, information management, or data protection.
* Knowledge of the FOI Act 1982 (Vic) and related regulations.
* Ability to interpret and apply the FOI Act in complex scenarios.
* Knowledge of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), and preferably the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.
* Experience managing information release processes in compliance with legislation.
