Are you ready for your next big adventure? Carey is currently seeking an Outdoor Education Instructor with a passion for sustainable practices and conservation to join the team in Far North Queensland in 2026.

The Zero Program Instructor supports the Zero Teachers to deliver the bespoke program to the Year 10 Students in Far North Queensland. Incorporating key curriculum, wellbeing, and linking these with the Carey values, this role is integral to the success of the Zero program. This position supports the students to link learning from the classroom to the real world and promotes student connection, relationships and individualised learning.

Carey's Zero program offers Year 10 students a unique and enriching pathway that is a key feature of the annual program. The Zero program offers students an experiential learning experience centred around real world learning and wellbeing.

In addition to course work completed within the classroom, the program includes a three-week journey exploring northern Queensland with a focus on people, land and Australian environments. This trip includes the exploration of the Great Barrier Reef, engaging sustainable practices and conservation at the Australian Wildlife Conservancy's Mt Zero property, and immersing students in Indigenous Australian Culture.

The role:

* Liaise with the Zero team regarding details the program including but not limited to management and documentation of students, incident and first aid.
* Work collaboratively with Deputy Head of Zero - Programming to manage equipment and program resources, including repairs, maintenance, ordering and sourcing.
* Preparation and packing of gear and equipment for specific programs.
* Safely lead group through the program.
* Support the wellbeing of students & staff.

What do I need to succeed?

* Recognised Outdoor Education qualifications or equivalent (eg. Experience) in specific and appropriate activities
* Current manual Drivers Licence
* A passion for sustainable practices and conservation
* A proactive team player with attention for detail
* Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Suite programs
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with various stakeholders

A valid Working with Children Check is a requirement of employment in this position.
