Our client is a leading Data Center operator working closely with hyperscalers across APAC, expanding aggressively (beyond 200MW expansion in plan for the next couple of years), currently seeking for an Electrical Manager to lead the design, development, and optimization of electrical systems for their data centre portfolio. They are working with most of the leading hyperscalers and have around a billion USD in funding to help their rapid expansion.
As the Electrical Manager, you are responsible for overseeing the regional DC projects from initial concept through to commissioning and operation and act as the Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME). The successful candidate will be responsible to see through all project phases: concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), delivery, and installation.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Design Authority
* Serve as the electrical engineering SME, guiding consultants, contractors, and internal teams through all project phases: concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), delivery, and installation.
* Lead electrical design requirements definition and review for new data centre builds, data hall fit-outs, and major upgrades. Participate in integrated MEP design reviews to ensure seamless system coordination.
* Evaluate the design, construction, and operational performance of mission-critical electrical infrastructure and associated MEP systems.
* Apply deep knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) architecture, point schedules, and enhancement projects.
Project Oversight & Execution
* Manage electrical design and construction for both greenfield and brownfield projects, including site selection, project team setup, consultant engagement, tender processes, and construction oversight.
* Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues raised by cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with project timelines and performance standards.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices across all electrical systems.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
* Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers to translate technical requirements into executable project plans.
* For Senior Manager & Director levels: Directly manage and develop a team of engineers and specialists. Foster a culture of technical excellence, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
* Provide strategic input on infrastructure innovation, efficiency gains, and sustainability initiatives within the electrical domain.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering
* Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
* 8+ years (varying by seniority) in designing, reviewing, and overseeing electrical systems for large-scale, mission-critical facilities (data centres, hospitals, industrial plants, etc.).
* Extensive hands‐on experience with:
o High/medium voltage distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, PDUs, and power monitoring.
o BMS/DCIM integration and control logic.
o International electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
* Proven track record in leading multidisciplinary project teams through full project lifecycles.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
