We are looking for an experienced Head Chef to join our talented culinary team at Far East Company Pty Ltd in the beautiful coastal town of Byron Bay, NSW. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, menu development, and the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This is a full-time role.
Importantly, the successful candidate will commence at the Venue in a Senior Sous Chef Position. Allowing a 2-3 month period for handover from the current Head Chef.
What you'll be doing
* Manage and lead the kitchen team, including scheduling, training, and performance reviews
* Develop and implement creative, high-quality seasonal menus that showcase local, fresh produce
* Ensure strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
* Monitor food and labour costs, and implement measures to optimise profitability
* Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive kitchen culture
* Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
* Participate in menu tastings and promotional events
What we're looking for
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary role – Thai cuisine experience preferred.
* Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing kitchen teams
* Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and cost control practices
* Strong creativity and flair for designing innovative, seasonal menus
* Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
