Chemical Handling Operative - Karratha, W.A.
OEG Offshore Pty Ltd are a large multi-national operator in the supply base, logistics space of the Oil & Gas Industry. Our core business is equipment rental as well as chemical handling and storage.
We are looking for a local Karratha resident to come and work with our dynamic and friendly team located in Gap Ridge in the City of Karratha. OEG are not offering relocation.
OEG has multiple large rental contracts in Karratha so are seeking a hardworking, friendly and motivated individual to join our friendly team.
The Chemical Handling Operative is a hands-on position and the day-to-day job functions of this position are specifically to assist with the handling, storage, decanting and blending of chemicals used in the offshore environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Receipt inspection of all packaged chemicals (IBC/drum/pail) and completion of all associated documentation.
* The safe storage of both dangerous and non-dangerous goods on site in accordance with the requirements of the site licence issued by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.
* Processing of orders placed by client for supply of chemicals to their customers.
* Pre-filling inspection of offshore chemical tanks and completion of all associated documentation.
* Filling of offshore chemical tanks in line with company procedures and clients order requirements.
* Labelling of offshore chemical tanks to ensure compliance with both the International Maritime Dangerous Goods code (IMDG) and Australian Code for Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail (ADG7).
* Performing product QC checks from samples obtained from filled tanks and completing QC check documentation.
* Retention of samples taken from filled tanks.
* Loading and strapping of chemicals onto pallets in line with client requirements.
* Preparation of delivery documentation in line with client requirements.
* Operation of forklift truck for unloading/loading of tanks, IBC's and palletised chemicals as well as stacking of IBC and pallets in the designated areas.
* Performing inspection and maintenance on offshore tank vessels to ensure they meet statutory regulations, industry standards and guidelines, and the requirements of the client.
Experience & Skills required:
* Must have Forklift licence with relevant experience loading / unloading road transport and handling palletised goods/IBC's.
* Working at Heights ticket (preferred)
* Confined Space Entry ticket (preferred)
* Knowledge of the requirements of the IMDG and ADG7 codes (preferred).
* Good understanding of basic chemical handling processes.
* Mechanical Background (preferred) / Highly developed Mechanical Aptitude with attention to detail.
* Good computer skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required to perform daily job functions.
* A desire to work with team members to improve processes and product quality in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
* OEG will provide on the job training, but a willingness to learn and work hard is essential
* Australian work rights are required for this position.
