About The Role
As a Ward Clerk, you will provide consumer-focused administrative and clerical support to ensure a smooth patient journey and efficient ward operations. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, nursing staff and multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting patient flow and day-to-day coordination on Baxter Wing 5.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide confidential, accurate clerical, reception and administrative support within the ward environment
* Welcome patients and visitors, ensuring timely direction and smooth patient flow
* Manage telephone enquiries professionally and deliver high-quality consumer-focused customer service
* Coordinate appointments, admissions, discharges and medical record documentation using Barwon Health IT systems
* Maintain accurate patient records, validate accounts and ensure compliance with organisational policies and legal standards
* Support the multidisciplinary team through effective communication, flexibility and participation in workflow improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
* Advanced computer skills in software applications including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn organisation specific specialist applications within the ward.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to prioritise and organise work in a systematic, accurate and timely manner.
* Ability to maintain a professional, confidential and courteous manner in an environment that can have competing demands.
