Project Delivery Coordinator
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for delivering complex infrastructure projects? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a highly motivated Project Delivery Coordinator to lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact projects within the Portfolio Management Office.
You’ll champion the use of Council’s Enterprise Project Management Framework to ensure every project meets rigorous standards for safety, environmental compliance, cost, time, quality, and customer satisfaction. Your expertise will guide internal stakeholders and external clients alike, while you oversee resources, systems, and processes that drive the successful execution of Council’s Capital Delivery Program.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
* Inspire, mentor, and guide project teams across various asset functions to achieve successful outcomes.
* Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive work environment that prioritises wellbeing and psychological safety.
Project & Contract Management
* Oversee project budgets, schedules, scope, and quality, ensuring alignment with Council’s Enterprise Project Management Framework.
* Provide expert advice on construction and contract management, acting as Superintendent under Council and Australian Standard contract conditions.
* Manage operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and Council standards.
* Lead resource planning and allocation to support current and future project delivery needs.
* Ensure all contracts are administered in accordance with Council’s Contract Management Framework, including procurement and tendering guidelines.
Strategic & Stakeholder Engagement
* Contribute to strategic planning, workforce development, and business case preparation.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, contractors, and community groups.
* Step into the role of Project Manager when required to ensure continuity of service delivery.
* Carry out additional duties as delegated, aligned with the scope of the position.
Qualifications
Essential
* Degree in Engineering, Building and Construction, Project Management; OR
Lesser formal qualifications with a combination of experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties required at this level.
* QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent. Note: interstate licences must betransferred to QLD within three (3) months of commencement.
Desirable
* Registered Professional Engineer
* Project Management Professional Certification
Experience
Essential
* Significant and sustained contract management experience including multi-disciplinary complex contracts.
* Significant experience in industry standard project management methodology including planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, design, construction and / or commissioning of infrastructure.
* Significant successful experience in supervising staff, management of consultants, contractors and suppliers.
Desirable
* Experience in delivery of Local Government and/or client-based infrastructure projects.
