Linking Communities Network Ltd – Links For Women Program provides crisis supported accommodation with case management for women with or without dependent children who are experiencing domestic and family violence and/or related homelessness. Our service provides 24/7 onsite support and assistance for accommodated clients.
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Sleepover Support Worker to join our Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Refuge team. This role is critical to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and smooth after-hours operation of the refuge for women with or without dependent children escaping domestic and family violence.
The Sleepover Worker provides on-site overnight support, responds to any after-hours needs, and contributes to maintaining a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide after-hours support and overall running of the refuge
* Support women and children in a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed environment
* Respond appropriately to crisis situations and follow organisational policies and procedures
* Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and general upkeep of the refuge setting
* Support residents with basic needs during overnight hours
* Complete intake processes where required
* Collaborate with internal staff and external stakeholders as needed
* Maintain accurate documentation
* Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, and duty of care at all times
Essential Skills and Experience
* Awareness of the complexities of working with women and children impacted by domestic and family violence, homelessness, or related issues
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed and client-centred practice and the complexities surrounding Domestic and Family Violence
* Ability to work independently and calmly after hours
* Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to cultural safety and inclusive practice
* Current unrestricted drivers license
Desirable Qualifications
* Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field
* Experience in refuge or crisis accommodation settings or similar
* Knowledge of DFV legislation
Mandatory Requirements
* Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
* Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain
* First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
* Ability to work overnight sleepover shifts from 6pm-8am
