Accredited with AusNet and every major DNSP across Victoria and NSW, we work at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and the built environment — helping developers, government bodies, and major contractors navigate utility complexity so they can deliver. Our current programmes include grid connection management for hyperscale data centres up to 1,500 MW, transmission connection for Melbourne Airport Rail (~$13B), utility works on Suburban Rail Loop and North East Link, and a growing pipeline of data centre and industrial energy projects. THE ROLE:
This isn't a coordination role. You will be the programme driver — the person clients call when things matter, the one who moves AusNet, keeps the schedule honest, and makes the hard calls.
Reporting to the Director of Projects, you'll own a portfolio of NEN's highest-profile programmes across two practice areas:
* Data centre grid connections — HV connection programmes (100–1,500 MW) through enquiry, application, construction and energisation with AusNet, CitiPower, Powercor, Jemena and AEMO
* Major infrastructure and utilities — programme and utility management on government rail and transport projects
No two weeks look the same. You'll be in client meetings one morning, on site the next, reviewing HV documentation with the engineering team in the afternoon, and driving a DNSP negotiation by end of week. You'll also help mentor the PMs behind you — NEN is growing, and this hire sets the standard.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
* Own complex, multi-party programmes end-to-end — scope, schedule, budget, risk, reporting
* Be the primary client contact for NEN's most important programmes
* Lead stakeholder engagement and negotiations with DNSPs, TNSPs and government bodies
* Drive connection phases safely, on time and within budget
* Review HV documentation and regulatory correspondence alongside our engineering team
* Represent clients at authority and key decision-point meetings
* Mentor Project Managers and help lift the capability of the team
* Contribute to proposals and new client engagements
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
You have deep roots in utility infrastructure, HV grid connections or electrical engineering project management. You know how DNSPs and TNSPs work — not from a textbook, but because you've been in the room negotiating with them. You're the kind of PM who takes ownership without being asked and keeps clients confident even when programmes get difficult.
YOU'LL NEED:
* 7+ years' PM experience in utility infrastructure, electrical engineering or grid connections (however, if you have less, tell us why we should still consider you)
* Working knowledge of HV networks, DNSP/TNSP connection processes and the Australian energy regulatory framework
* A track record of owning complex, multi-party programmes end-to-end and delivering
* Strong client management and high-stakes stakeholder skills
* A degree in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline
* Melbourne based preferred but would consider Sydney based/remote work — with appetite for occasional interstate travel
* Direct experience on hyperscale data centre grid connections
* Major government infrastructure or rail programme background
* Experience mentoring other PMs
