About the role
This role is a key contributor to the City's Network Management Uplift Project, working within the City's network team and alongside other CTO teams to design and deliver secure, resilient network services. The role focuses on modern network and security uplift, including identity‐based access, Zero Trust principles, and secure network design. In addition to project work, the role will also support business‐as‐usual (BAU) network operations, providing hands‐on support across network management, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, including 802.1X/NAC, firewall policies, and operational tooling.
We're looking for people who have:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information regarding information technology-related problems into simple terms for all stakeholders
* A team player who can work independently as well as within a team
* Strong understanding of network architecture and security concepts
* Expert proficiency in routing protocols like OSPF, BGP, MPLS & VRFs
* Hands‐on experience designing, implementing, and managing enterprise firewall platforms, including:
* Check Point firewalls (MDS/MLM), policy design, routing.
* Cisco firewalls (ASA and/or Firepower), including policy configuration, inspection, and integration with broader security controls
* Strong experience implementing and supporting Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, including:
* IEEE 802.1X authentication for wired and wireless environments
* Cisco ISE administration and policy design, including profiling, posture assessment, guest/BYOD access, and TrustSec
* Integration with Active Directory, PKI/certificates, and endpoint identity sources
* Experience operating and administering Cisco DNA Centre and Cisco ISE in production environments
* Experience integrating endpoint management platforms with network access controls, including:
* Microsoft Intune device onboarding, configuration, and compliance policy deployment
* Leveraging Intune compliance signals for posture‐based and conditional access decisions
* Solid understanding and applied experience with Zero Trust networking concepts, including segmentation, continuous verification, and policy‐driven enforcement
* Cloud networking experience, particularly with Microsoft Azure, including secure connectivity, hybrid networking, and cloud security considerations
* CCNA or JNCIA or similar vendor certification (Desirable)
* Drivers licence and willingness to travel within LGA to perform device installations and troubleshooting activities.
