**Job Title:** Safety & Training Manager
We are seeking a proactive, people-focused Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety team and drive cultural excellence across our mining operations.
About the Role
The successful candidate will report to the General Manager – HSEC and lead a team of Safety Superintendents, working closely with operational leaders. This position offers the opportunity to influence site-wide safety culture, ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, and help shape the safety vision for current and future operations.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety compliance.
* Set annual goals, budgets, and plans with the team.
* Provide timely safety advice and support to operational teams.
* Maintain and update the Mine Safety Management System.
* Develop and review HSEC policies.
* Manage Worker's Compensation claims and the return-to-work process.
* Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
* Oversee safety and operator training activities.
* Offer leadership, mentoring, and coaching to the team.
* Promote a safety-focused workplace culture.
* Build relationships with regulators and government agencies.
* Organize site health and safety committee meetings.
* Implement contractor requirements and site access policies.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
* Recognized qualification in a safety-related discipline with post-graduate qualifications (essential).
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in all aspects of the role in the mining industry.
* Confidence in using HSE systems (Cintellate, Chemalert, Rapid).
* Strong knowledge of relevant WA legislation and permitting processes.
* Demonstrated success in safety and environmental strategy implementation.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
* Minimum of Applied First Aid qualification (Cert II Pre-hospital Care or other specialist emergency qualifications desirable).
* Recognized qualification in Auditing (Desirable).
* Cert IV in Surface Ventilation Technician Course (Desirable).
* Noise Officer qualification (Desirable).
* Associate Membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene (Desirable).
* Current unencumbered C Class Western Australian Driver's License.
