Job Overview
We are seeking a Communications Director to lead the development and execution of public positioning, internal member, and external media communications.
About the Role
This senior role will oversee the creation and implementation of strategic communication plans, manage external and media relations, and work closely with key stakeholders to amplify the Association's activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to engage members, stakeholders, and the wider community.
* Manage media releases, social media, and liaison with industry targeted, regional, and national media.
* Collaborate with senior staff to identify opportunities to increase the Association's visibility and influence.
* Produce timely and relevant internal communications, including updates, announcements, and EDMs.
* Coordinate quarterly member events, logistics, and arrangements.
* Execute Association-wide campaigns, including election campaigns and National Forestry Day.
* Direct and collaborate on the development of corporate and promotional documents, including the Annual Report.
* Oversee the management of the AFPA website and content, working with an external contractor.
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor's degree or higher in communications disciplines.
* At least five years' experience in communications, preferably in government or political offices, with experience in natural resources, agriculture, and/or forestry highly regarded.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
* Able and willing to work full-time in Australia.
