REFOCUS is a community-led organisation committed to delivering culturally strong, trauma-informed and family-centred services across Queensland. We work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to support children, families and elders through holistic, respectful and community-driven approaches.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief of Family Services to provide executive leadership across two key divisions – Family Services and Health. Each division operates independently under its own governance, funding and service frameworks, but aligns strategically under REFOCUS's shared vision of strong families, safe children and connected communities.
About the Role
The Chief of Family Services will lead the strategic and operational direction of Family Services and REFOCUS Health across the Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Cairns regions. This is a senior executive position responsible for:
* Providing high-level leadership across both divisions, ensuring service excellence and cultural safety.
* Overseeing multidisciplinary teams, regional managers, and clinical leads.
* Driving innovation, reform and continuous improvement in service delivery and outcomes.
* Ensuring compliance with legislative, clinical, and funding frameworks.
* Building partnerships with communities, government, and sector stakeholders.
* Representing REFOCUS at state and national forums to influence reform and advocate for community-led approaches.
This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and sits on the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to organisation-wide strategy, growth and governance.
About You
You are an accomplished leader with extensive experience in the family, community or health sectors and a deep understanding of cultural safety and trauma-informed practice.
You bring:
* Executive or senior management experience leading complex, multi-site service operations.
* Demonstrated success managing separate but aligned divisions or portfolios.
* Strong governance, compliance and financial management capability.
* Proven ability to lead strategic reform, workforce development and organisational growth.
* High-level relationship, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Commitment to the rights, voice and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Human Services, Health Administration, or Management are desirable. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
