Financial Accountant Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team. This is a leadership role that sits at the intersection of finance, infrastructure and community growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strengthen governance, transparency and accountability across infrastructure agreements.
* Ensure accurate financial recognition of infrastructure charges, offsets, assets and liabilities.
* Provide expert financial advice during infrastructure agreement negotiations.
* Collaborate with Development, Engineering and Asset Management teams to ensure accurate asset classification and valuation.
* Lead continuous improvement of accounting processes, tools and systems.
* Support Council's long-term financial planning by aligning financial forecasts with infrastructure commitments.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor Degree or above) in accounting or business studies.
* Experience in complex financial accounting and reporting, ideally in government or infrastructure sectors.
* Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards relevant to asset recognition and revenue recognition.
* Ability to develop financial systems, registers, and processes that improve transparency and accountability.
* High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy to financial transactions.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders.
