Our client is seeking a Senior Nursery Person to join their team located in Burton, South Australia.
As a Senior Nursery Person you will be responsible for carrying out and overseeing duties across all aspects of nursery operations within a busy wholesale ornamental tree and plant production nursery, supporting the effective and efficient operation of the business.
Employment Type and Hours: Full-time, 44.25 hours per week (including guaranteed 6.25 hours overtime)

Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Carrying out and overseeing plant propagation activities, including cuttings, transplanting, and potting
* Preparing and managing potting media, fertilisation programs, and growing conditions suitable for different plant varieties
* Monitoring plant health, growth, and quality across nursery stock and implementing corrective actions where required
* Identifying, preventing, and treating pests, diseases, and plant disorders in accordance with biosecurity, safety, and environmental guidelines
* Pruning, trimming, staking, and training plants to meet wholesale quality standards
* Managing and monitoring irrigation systems and watering schedules to ensure optimal plant growth
* Supporting the planning and coordination of daily nursery operations and workloads
* Supervising, guiding, and supporting nursery staff as required to ensure work is carried out efficiently and safely
* Preparing plants for wholesale distribution, including grading, labelling, and presentation
* Maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and safety across nursery grounds, shadehouses, and work areas
* Operating nursery tools, machinery, and equipment safely and in accordance with workplace procedures
* Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety policies and company procedures at all times
* Reporting plant health issues, operational concerns, and resource needs to the Operations Manager
Qualifications
* Minimum of certificate III in a Horticulture or related field
Skills and Knowledge
* At least 3 years of experience working in a production nursery
* Sound technical knowledge of plant care, propagation techniques, and nursery production processes
* Ability to identify common plant pests, diseases, and disorders
* Experience supervising or supporting staff in a nursery or similar environment
* Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and contribute to team operations
* Capacity to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high plant quality standards
Working Conditions
* Work is primarily conducted outdoors and in shadehouse environments
* Manual handling and physical labour are inherent requirements of the role
* Overtime work is required as part of standard employment conditions
