Finance Manager
M Search are recruiting on behalf of an ASX listed natural resources company for the position of Finance Manager to start immediately. We are seeking an experienced individual to lead the financial and management reporting, drive performance improvements, and provide commercial insights to the business. This role requires a strategic thinker who can partner with key stakeholders across finance, engineering, and commercial teams to enhance decision-making and financial performance.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, commercial finance, and cash flow management, with a hands-on approach to overseeing accounts payable and payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the preparation of financial statements and audit requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
2. Lead management reporting, providing timely and insightful financial analysis to drive business performance.
3. Partner with the US team on budgeting, ensuring robust cost controls and forecasting.
4. Manage cash flow reporting, including quarterly ASX cash flow statements and forecasting.
5. Drive performance improvement initiatives across financial reporting and analysis functions.
Audit & Compliance
1. Ensure financial statements are audit-ready and meet statutory requirements.
2. Oversee reconciliations, reporting accuracy, and adherence to financial policies.
3. Implement financial controls and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Budgeting & Cash Flow Management
1. Partner with the US finance team to develop and manage budgets, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives.
2. Drive forecasting accuracy and scenario planning to optimise financial performance.
3. Manage quarterly ASX cash flow reporting and liaise with stakeholders to improve visibility and accuracy.
Accounts Payable (AP) & Payroll Oversight
1. Review and approve the work of the US-based AP specialist, ensuring accuracy in coding, reconciliations, and compliance.
2. Process Australian payroll and accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions (approx. 4 hours per month).
3. Provide guidance on payroll-related matters and compliance with local regulations.
Commercial & Business Partnering
1. Work closely with the commercial and engineering teams to support decision-making with financial insights.
2. Drive ad-hoc financial modelling, feasibility analysis, and commercial assessments.
3. Support contract review processes and provide commercial recommendations where necessary.
4. Lead or support the sale of non-core assets and manage related financial processes.
Ad-Hoc & Strategic Projects
1. Take ownership of special projects, including improving financial systems, processes, and performance analytics.
2. Identify areas for cost optimisation and efficiency improvements across the business.
3. Support executive leadership with strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
1. CPA, or CA qualified (Desirable).
2. Strong background in financial reporting, management accounting, and business partnering.
3. Demonstrated ability to drive performance improvements and cost efficiencies.
4. Proficiency in financial modelling, feasibility analysis, and commercial decision-making.
5. Ability to work autonomously and take initiative on ad-hoc tasks and projects.
6. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
7. Prior experience with US finance operations or global business environments is advantageous.
