About the role
Premier Speedway Club is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of this iconic motorsport’s venue. In this full-time role, you will report direct to the board of management and will be responsible for the overall management and continued success of the club, ensuring that it remains a premier destination for speedway racing and community events. The position is based in Warrnambool, Victoria.
Position will entail
- Manage the club as directed by the board of management and work closely with the Club President & Office Manager to ensure smooth and professional operations of the club.
- Provide strong leadership and strategic direction for the club, aligning all activities with the board's vision and objectives
- Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of all club operations, including event management, facility management, marketing, and financial management
- Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders, including sponsors, competitors, and the local community
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to drive attendance, enhance the fan experience, and diversify revenue streams
- Manage and lead a team of staff and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional development
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Represent the club at industry events and participate in industry associations to stay informed of trends and best practices
- Attend and participate in all board meetings
- Actively seek sponsorship for the club and maintain strong relationships with new and existing partners
- Act as the club promoter in all respects and oversee the marketing and promotion of the club
Key selection criteria
- Significant experience in a senior leadership role within the motorsports, events, or hospitality industries
- Demonstrated success in driving business growth, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing customer experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills, with the ability to analyse financial data and make informed decisions
- Proven track record in leading and developing high-performing teams
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
