They're looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on graduate to jointhis energetic engineering team. This is a chance to make a tangible impact on both products and the planet.
This role is initially a 3-month contract, with potential for extension based on project progression and performance.
What You'll Be Doing: A Hands-On Role in Sustainability
You'll be a key player in operations which use exciting processes like extrusion (for sheets and resin) and thermoforming. Your work will be diverse, blending core mechanical engineering with process optimization and innovation:
Process & Equipment Excellence: Jump right into assisting with process design, optimization, and scale-up of essential manufacturing equipment like extruders and thermoformers. You'll help troubleshoot equipment, maintain smooth operations, and ensure top-notch safety and quality standards.
Innovation & R&D;: Get involved in groundbreaking R&D; tasks, conducting small-scale lab experiments, testing new material formulations, and analyzing thermal, mechanical, or barrier properties.
Mechanical Design & CAD: Put your design skills to work by assisting with mechanical design. This could include designing components, fixtures, tooling, or modifications to existing machinery. Proficiency in 3D CAD (like SolidWorks or AutoCAD) is a great bonus here!
Data-Driven Improvements: Collect and analyze production data and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous process improvements.
Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate with a brilliant team of materials scientists, chemical/process engineers, and quality control experts, contributing to products that meet rigorous environmental, safety, and regulatory standards for food-contact and compostable materials.
Who You Are: Your Skills & Qualifications
A Mechanical Engineering degree (or a closely related discipline).
Strong analytical skills for interpreting test data and performance metrics.
An effective problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a collaborative team player mindset.
Advantageous, but not essential: Experience or understanding of CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), or familiarity with manufacturing components like augers, pneumatics, HMIs, proximity sensors, or conveyors.
